Ambitions

The ambition of the CCG is to: 

  • Ensure staff fully understand equality and diversity, current local issues and their responsibility with regard to equality requirements
  • Empower staff to challenge prejudice and to identify reasonable adjustments in their own work areas
  • Include equality and diversity training as a mandatory requirement for all staff
  • Designate Equality Champions throughout the organisation and to introduce additional training to support these roles
  • Equip managers to promote the cultural and behavioural changes that will ensure equality and diversity is fully embedded within day-to-day business 
  • Provide an environment for both staff and patients that is free from all forms of discrimination
  • Continually collect feedback from staff on matters relating to equality and diversity

  • To ensure that protected characteristics are recorded across all services
  • To ensure healthcare providers fulfil their duties under the Equality Act 2010

Equality impact assessments

An equality impact assessment is a systematic way of assessing how a particular policy or way of working could affect specific groups of people based on their individual characteristics.

In the same way that a risk assessment would be taken forward, an equality impact assessment allows the CCG to identify potential problems and resolve them as quickly as possible
