Many pharmacies in Swindon will be closed on Monday 6 May for the early spring bank holiday.

However, people needing urgent medication, or advice for minor illnesses and injuries, will still be able to get the help they need by visiting one of the selected pharmacies that will still be open.

Other healthcare services

Elsewhere, people needing help for more pressing health concerns should visit the Urgent Care Centre at the Great Western Hospital or the Walk-in Centre at the Swindon NHS Health Centre in Islington Street.

Both services will be open as normal and will be able to offer people access to a doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional without an appointment.

Any person unsure of which service is right for them should call NHS 111 and explain their symptoms to a trained adviser, who can provide information on the most appropriate course of action.

In any situation where there is a genuine threat to life, people should not hesitate in calling 999 or attending the Emergency Department at the Great Western Hospital.
