Many pharmacies across Swindon and Shrivenham will be closed, or will open later and close earlier than usual, on Monday 28 May because of the late spring bank holiday.

People with an interest in local healthcare are invited to come along to the next meeting of Swindon Clinical Commissioning Group’s Governing Body.

The Annual General Meeting of NHS Swindon Clinical Commissioning Group will take place on Thursday 19 July.

Two Swindon surgeries, Abbey Meads Medical Practice and Eldene Surgery, have received improved ratings from the Care Quality Commission, with each practice now rated as good for the care given to patients.

More than 30,000 adults across Swindon are urged to look at the amount of sugar in their diet and think about the impact it could be having on their health, ahead of Diabetes Prevention Week.

Kooth is a pioneering online counselling service for children and young people in Swindon.

It allows young people aged between 11 and 19 the opportunity to speak with a trained counsellor about any aspect of modern life they may be struggling with, such as bullying, school work, family trouble and eating disorders.

More than just an online forum, Kooth also provides self-help materials and a mood journal, in which users can record their personal thoughts and feelings.

Young people are encouraged to identify goals and monitor progress with their counsellor, charting movement as progress is achieved.

The Kooth site, which is live every day of the year between 12pm and 10pm and between 6pm and 10pm at weekends, can be reached using any standard laptop, tablet, smartphone or other internet-enabled device.
