Non-emergency patient transport isn't available for everybody.

To find out if a person is eligible for free transportation under the scheme, they will need to call the Patient Transport Advice Centre (PTAC) on 01278 727401.

A member of the PTAC will then ask the person a series of questions about their existing medical conditions and mobility needs.

The answers to these questions will be used to decide whether or not free transportation can be arranged.

Before calling PTAC, patients should make sure they have the following information ready:

  • Date of birth

  • 10 digit NHS number

  • Address (including post code)

  • Details of medical conditions and mobility needs
