Young carers in Swindon have given emotional accounts of the struggles faced in their daily lives as part of a powerful new film that premiered this week.

Released to coincide with Young Carers Awareness Day, which takes place on Thursday 30 January, the three-minute film offers a rare insight into the lives of young carers, while also highlighting the support available to children and teenagers looking after a friend or a relative.

Swindon Carers Centre, which works with people of all ages who dedicate their time to helping others, made the film with the aim of reaching out to any young person currently unaware that their role as a carer needn't be one they have to carry out on their own.

Fiona Prinzi, Deputy CEO of Swindon Carers Centre, said: "We're here to support young carers to carry the weight of their caring role.

"In Swindon alone, we work with over 900 young carers, and we know many more are out there that need our support.

"Don't stay hidden, we are here to help."
